O+ FESTIVAL KINGSTON 2019
Submissions for our 10th annual festival
(October 11-13, 2019) are now open!
A general note and message to O+ Music Alumni: 2019 marks our 10th year in Kingston - an unbelievable achievement, made possible by the committment and ongoing work of this community, its artists, musicians, health care providers, volunteers & festival attendees. This year, we'll be inviting approximately 40 bands to peform at O+ Festival Kingston. As such, we will NOT be considering submissions from bands who have played O+ FESTIVAL KINGSTON in 2017 or 2018 and may give lower priority to acts who peformed at O+ Kingston in 2015/16. We're constantly looking for ways to do more with our music alumni, but want to make sure we keep the line-up fresh and continue to reach those who have yet to participate and may also have a need. We thank you in advance for your understaning. If you're interested in volunteering in exchange for a clinic visit (minimum 8 hour requirement) please click here.
The O+ Festival is a celebration of art, music and wellness that creates a bridge to access health care for its participating artists/musicians. O+ fosters complete physical, mental and social well-being by connecting musicians and visual artists directly with a coalition of healthcare and wellness providers/resources in a shared vision to nurture the individual and the community.
Bands, solo artists, ensembles, multimedia artists and those specializing in sound installation are encouraged to submit (please note: we do NOT generally book cover bands). If your submission includes a new work/installation/etc., you'll have an opportunity to submit a more detailed proposal in the form that follows. Proposals for new works, installations and/or inter-disciplinary submissions should be informed by this year's festival theme, which is "X" (so much more than just a Roman numeral - the X not only represents 10 years of festivals in Kingston, but notions of eXchange, X-over and more - additional information can be found HERE - we look forward to your interpretations of this theme).
ACCEPTED submissions will be invited to perform at this year’s festival in exchange for access to care in the O+ Artists’ Clinic (click HERE for detailed information on our mission or HERE for typical health and wellness services available). You can expect to be notified regarding your submission by late June. This year, we expect to receive well over 250 submission for a finite number of performance slots, so we ask for your patience and understanding, should your submission not be accepted for this year.
We eagerly await your submissions! Positively,
The 2019 O+ KINGSTON Music Committee
